AMALFI

The city from which the whole coast takes its name

Amalfi attracts visitors from all over the world. They come for the history, the nature, the beaches, and the beautiful Cathedral which towers over the main square. St Andrews is the most important and famous church in the town, with its long staircase and cloisters. Amalfi was one of the first Maritime Republics, along with Venice, Pisa and Genoa, something the town is very proud of even today. One of the highlights is walking through the old narrow streets behind the main street, built by the Arabs during their occupation. Ancient steps take you to a viewpoint where you can get stunning views of the town and beyond
